This was an early mockup of the actual poster, created by local photographer Ric Noyle. In the actual poster my picture was replaced by a photograph of Moriteru Ueshiba Doshu taken by Ric at Aikikai Hombu dojo. Vanessa Sim is taking ukemi in this mockup.Aikido Celebration 2011 was an organization dedicated to the public commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the first and only visit made to Hawai‘i by the founder of Aikido, OSensei Morihei Ueshiba. It was also an opportunity to recognize the efforts of the people in Hawai’i and elsewhere who made that 1961 visit possible, and to perpetuate the practice of Aikido in Hawai‘i for future generations.

The new Aikikai Hombu Dojo is completedFrom "Ueshiba Morihei Monogatari". The new Aikikai Hombu Dojo is completed in 1969, shortly before Morihei Ueshiba's death. The bottom panel shows Morihei Ueshiba praising his son - the only time that he ever did so.
